This past summer was only Bill Hughes’ second trip up Mt. Ararat, but he already knew exactly what to do. Brought in as mechanics, he and his son, Will, were always willing to lend a helping hand. As a military veteran, Bill’s determination and stamina surprised and inspired his team members.
When asked about climbing Mt. Ararat, he replied, “I have a job to do at the top, the mountain is just in the way.” He and Will would often have the coffee ready for everyone in the morning to provide a bit of normalcy and structure to the day. When he’s not traveling, Bill and his wife reside in northeastern Washington.Meet Bill Hughes

What do you get when you take a bit of spontaneity, combine it with skill of a mechanic and throw in the heart of a philanthropist? Will Hughes, the adventurous, fun-loving explorer with a heart big enough to fill the entire Ark.
Will graduated from Washington State University and has been traveling around the world ever since, helping where he can and giving back to communities less fortunate than his. In transition and recently married, Will and his wife currently live in Mendoza, Argentina serving in the same impoverished neighborhood where they first met and fell in love years ago. Their days are full of prepping sandwiches in the soup kitchen, assisting with weekly youth gatherings, and building the new medical clinic and youth center. But soon they will be taking on the difficult task of working in Patagonia with rural Chilean and Mapuche tribal villages. They will be doing pastoral support and community development for those on the islands, in the rain forest, and high up in Andes mountains of Chilean Patagonia. And there is no other place they would rather be.
